No, I’m in the control group — MMM #10 (🎉)
Today marks the 10th edition of the Monday Morning Mashup. I really enjoy writing these weekly newsletters as they have forced me to be more conscious about the news and content I consume every day. Thank you for reading, I hope you’ve discovered some new things and am excited to continue growing the newsletter.

🌐 Web: Did you? No, I’m in the control group
I came across the xkcd comic somewhere on the internet and think this is the most sophisticated all-purpose excuse imaginable 😉.
💽 Data: COVID mortality
My graph of the week is this wonderful creation by John Burn-Murdoch for the Financial Times. It shows the infection fatality ratio (IFR) of COVID in England. COVID is now officially less lethal than the flu in the UK, even for the elderly. A crucial side note, however, is that the absolute number of deaths may still be higher. COVID is more transmissible than the flu.
🔍Valuation: another great masterclass
Dr. Aswath Damodaran gave a webcast for the Motley Fool last week and published the entire lecture on his Youtube channel. It’s definitely worth a watch and goes over some of the key issues and common pitfalls in valuation.
🎁Extra: Charity Gaming
In support of Ukraine, itch.io has a bundle of 992 indie games. For $10 all of that can be yours and 100% of the proceeds go towards charity. There are some real gems in here. I personally like Celeste and Superhot.
✍🏻Blog: INDEX — Excel in 60 seconds
I’m starting a new series of videos where I attempt to explain an Excel function in 60 seconds using a basic example. The first victim is the INDEX function which I find is heavily underused for its versatility.
From now on, I’ll try to release a blog post and video every week. Let’s hope I can stick to the schedule 😄.
Have a great week!
